03/06/2016 - County Donegal Development Plan Review

Public consultation starting today

Donegal County Council is today commencing a review of the existing County Donegal Development Plan 2012- 2018 (as varied).   

The purpose of this Plan is to set out the way in which County Donegal will be developed and it is a material consideration in making decisions on planning applications.  This plan is strategic in nature and includes objectives and policies for the proper planning and sustainable development of the county.  

A review of the existing County Donegal Development Plan starts today and this is the first step in the preparation of the new County Development Plan for Donegal which will be the first consolidated Plan for the entire functional area of Donegal County Council, including the former Town Council areas of Letterkenny, Buncrana and Bundoran.

The Council is inviting submissions or observations regarding the preparation of the new Plan and a series of issue papers have been prepared to help assist individuals, groups and organisations in making a submission.  The issue papers cover areas such as economic development, retail strategy & town centres, renewable energy, the natural, built & cultural heritage and infrastructure and roads.  These papers are available here.

A series of public drop-in events will also take place and Council Planning staff will be in attendance at these events to assist those who wish to make a submission and to deal with any queries.

These events will take place as follows:

Submissions or observations may be made in writing to the Planning Authority at: The Central Planning Unit, Donegal County Council, County House, Lifford or by email to [email protected]  Submissions made via email must include the full name and address of the person making the submission. 

The final date for the receipt of submissions is 4.30pm on Friday 29th July, 2016
